Frequently Asked Questions
A good place to start if you need quick answers.
Installation & Setup
DIY installation is not recommended and may void your warranty. Proper installation requires handling refrigerants, correct line set configuration, vacuuming, charging, and electrical work by a certified technician.
Your local HVAC professional will be able to provide the most accurate recommendation, but you can do a rough calculation using the square footage of the space you want to heat and cool. As a general guide, 100–200 sq ft usually needs 9,000–12,000 BTU, 200–450 sq ft needs 12,000–18,000 BTU, and spaces up to about 800 sq ft may need 24,000 BTU. It’s often best to size slightly higher, especially if the room gets a lot of sun or isn’t well insulated, since a unit that’s too small will struggle to keep up, while one that’s too large can run inefficiently.
- Step 1: Download the SmartHome–SmartLife app. Scan the QR code in your manual or enter the activation code “aurus” to begin.
- Step 2: Create your account and verify it through your email. Once verified, make sure your mini split is turned on, then tap Add Device (or the “+” icon). Ensure Bluetooth and Location services are enabled on your phone.
- Step 3: Select Split Air Conditioner from the device list and enter your Wi-Fi network name and password. Important: Your phone must be connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. 5 GHz networks are not supported.
- Step 4: Reset your mini split into pairing mode by pressing the DISPLAY button on your remote six times until CF appears on the indoor unit’s screen. Confirm this step in the app and continue. If your remote does not have a DISPLAY button, follow the alternative pairing options shown in the app.
- Step 5: The app will search for your AURUS unit in CF (configuration) mode and complete the connection. Once paired, you can rename your device and begin controlling your AURUS mini split from the app.
Smart Features & Connectivity
AURUS mini split systems are fully compatible with smart home integration, including Amazon Alexa and Google Home. With built-in Wi-Fi connectivity through the supported SmartHome-SmartLife app or through voice commands, AURUS units can seamlessly be operated remotely. This enables convenient control of temperature, operating modes, and system power, providing users with enhanced comfort and flexibility.
5 GHz Wi-Fi networks typically won’t work for controlling mini-splits remotely—these systems usually require a 2.4 GHz connection. Important: your phone must be connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network during setup.
